I’m a parent of two sons who are just now embarking on their college journey. I’m a financial advisor by profession so I am careful with regard to expenditures and was not sure I would jump on board with a college consulting service when I went to a seminar last summer. My wife and I did engage POM College Consulting to help with both of our sons and I believe it was an excellent decision. One of the things I learned in business school was that it is ok, and often better, to outsource tasks that are outside of your core competency. I believe this is true of the college process. I’m sure I could have figured out all the steps involved to apply for financial aid and research and apply for college admission. I’m also sure now that I could have made mistakes, some of them costly. These tasks are only a piece of what POM College Consulting provides. They also help students determine career direction, study for SAT/ACT tests, search for scholarships and understand how to find the right schools for their unique needs and goals. I would strongly encourage anyone entering the challenging and often confusing college process to consider the services of POM College Consulting. We were so grateful for the assistance we received from the counselors at POM Counseling when dealing with the daunting task of filling out Federal Aid forms for our daughter’s college funds. They were there to advise us every step of the way, and did most of the work in filling out the forms. The counselors were each friendly, reliable, and extremely knowledgeable about the process. Additionally, with the guidance of POM, we appealed the financial award from her college twice, and received additional awards both times!
